World Bank Legal Internship Program for International Law Students

The World Bank Legal Vice Presidency offers highly-motivated law students an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of the World Bank and that of the Legal Vice Presidency. The World Bank Legal Internship Program allows individuals to bring new perspectives, innovative ideas, and latest research experiences into the World Bank’s daily operations and improve their legal skills while working in a multicultural environment.

This Program is offered thrice a year for a period of maximum three months at World Bank Headquarters in Washington, D.C. and in certain selected country offices for currently enrolled law school students.

  • Who can Apply: International as well as U.S.-based students are equally encouraged.
  • Duration: 3 Months
  • Deadline: 30th September 2023

Internship Value

The World Bank Legal Internship Program will provide the intern with the following benefits:

  • The program provides students with direct experience of the daily operations of the World Bank by working with staff in legal voice presidency.
  • Participants will work directly with World Bank’s inspiring development experts and senior management to contribute to the legal services delivered by L.V.P.
  • Gain experience in the form of externships during the academic year while enrolled in a law program.
  • Participate in special events and conferences held by the World Bank.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the World Bank Legal Internship Program, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Must hold citizenship of any IBRD (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development) member state.
  • Must be enrolled in an LLB, JD, LLM, SJD, PhD, or equivalent legal academic program.
  • Must have an excellent command of the English language.
  • Must exhibit great academic and leadership abilities.

  3. Proof of enrollment in a law degree (LLB, JD, LLM, SJD, PhD, or equivalent) and academic transcript(s).
