The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2024 at the University of the Western Cape is opened for young people whose access to higher education is impeded by economic and social barriers. The Program places a particular emphasis on reaching young women, refugees and forcibly displaced youth, and young people living with disabilities, who are encouraged to apply. Eligibility Criterial for University of the Western Cape Scholarship
At the time of application, an applicant must satisfy the following criteria in order to be considered in the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program:
For Undergraduate Studies:
- Be no older than 26 years for the undergraduate studies;
- Meet the University’s minimum admissions requirements (for program/discipline-specific information, visit here) and must have applied for academic admission to the University for 2024;
- Applicants must be willing to register for full-time undergraduate study in January 2024;
- Provide evidence that access to university studies is impeded by social and economic barriers.
For Master’s Degree Studies:
- Must not be older than 30 years for the master’s degree studies;
- Must meet the University’s minimum admissions requirements (for program/discipline-specific information, visit here) and must have applied for academic admission to the University for 2024;
- Applicants must be willing to begin their first year of registration for full-time master’s degree study in January 2024;
- Applicants must provide evidence that access to university studies is impeded by social and economic barriers.
Application Process for Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program:
- Click the Apply Now button below to start your UWC Mastercard scholarship application.
- Applicants must apply to the University of the Western Cape for 2024 (take care of application closing dates).
- Then apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2024 by completing the online application.
- Applicants must complete all sections in the application form: Personal Information, Academic Information, Family Information, Short Narratives, Community Engagement, and Certification.
- The online application process is preferred. Duplicate applications will not be accepted and will be disqualified automatically.
- Applicants must complete and apply before the UWC Mastercard scholarship deadline.
- Applicants must provide accurate email and phone numbers for communication purposes.
- After selection, successful applicants will be invited for in-person or virtual interviews conducted by independent panels.
NOTE: If the applicants are unable to apply online, they can download the application form and email the filled form and supporting documentation to mcfsp-applications@uwc.ac.za in one mail (the completed form and supporting documents must be submitted as one email).
